A fence design competition for the show-jumping event in the
2008 Olympics was launched Monday.
Organized by the Hong Kong Equestrian organization, the
competition aims to raise the equestrian's event reputation among
the public. The design work should convey the themes of the Beijing
Olympics, namely "Green Olympics", "High-tech Olympics" and
"People's Olympics", as well as the image of Hong Kong as
progressive, innovative and cosmopolitan.
President of the Hong Kong Olympic Committee, Timothy Fok, said
that jumping fences were a good metaphor for promoting the Hong
Kong personality before the global community.
He said the competition was a good opportunity for members of
the public to exercise their creativity by submitting innovative
designs for fences.
The competition comprises three categories: junior, senior and
professional with results due to be announced on March 27 next
year.
