Kenya's athletes Ezra Sambu and Vincent Mumo rejoined the sprinters camp in Nairobi on Monday.

Sambu, former Afro Asian was away on compassionate leave following the demise of his father while Mumo competed in some races in Europe as he sought to attain the Olympic qualifying mark.

The diminutive athlete however fell short clocking 45.86. The camp which is being run concurrently with another one in Eldoret is in preparation of this year's Olympics set for China in August.

Meanwhile, the Athletics Kenya (AK) will on Wednesday select the junior team to take part in this year's World Junior championships to be held in Bydgoszcz, Poland from July 8 -13.

World junior 1500 metres silver medallist Mercy Kosgei will be among 135 juniors that will battle it out for a place in the team which will represent the country at the 12th junior global event.

World Youth champion Mercy Cherono will be favorite to qualify in the women's 3,000 meters while school's 800 meters champion Winny Chebet who missed out on a place in the team in 2006 will be looking to go one better in the two lap race.

Delvin Meringor and Lucy Kamene Muia will battle it out in the girls' 5,000 metres. The 2007 World Junior cross country bronze medalist Mathew Kisorio and national junior cross country champion Levy Matebo will battle in the 5,000 meters men's race.

The pair will be looking to redeem themselves after a poor World Cross outing in March where Kisorio finished a poor sixth and Matebo was tenth.

The AK have asked all athletes to bring with them birth certificates, passports or notification of birth to determine their ages in a bid to avoid cheating during the championships.

Those who will not produce any of the said documents will not be selected even if they qualify to make the team. Successful athletes will start training immediately.

The east African nation is the defending championships having topped the medals table at the last edition held in Beijing. They claimed six gold medals, seven silver and two bronze.
