Coach of Nigeria's women soccer team to the Beijing Olympics Games Jossy Lad said this is the right time for the team to make a splash on the world stage, starting from next month's Olympics in China.
Nigeria has won every edition of the African Women Championships since it inception in 1998 and has represented Africa at every edition of the FIFA Women's World Cup since 1991.
However, the team has consistently failed to make the same kind of impact it does in Africa and Lad, who is leading the girl to Beijing in just under a month, said it is time to step up a gear.
The Nigeria women's team played at the 2000 Olympics in Australia and the 2004 tournament in Greece, losing out in the group stage at the turn of the Millennium and falling to Germany at the quarterfinal stage in Athens four years ago.
The Super Falcons won 5-1 against a local club side featuring no less than six players from the South Korean national team in a training match on Friday in South Korea.
