Similar to the previous day, Team China's gold medal hopes are mainly in shooting, weight lifting and fencing. Guo Wenjun, the world record holder in the women's 10m air pistol, and Ren Jie are quite promising. Ren Jie has accumulated rich experience from attending three Olympics, while Guo Wenjun won two consecutive World Cup events. Therefore, China's chances for gold in this event are good.
Guo Jingjing, known as the "Diving Queen", will be fighting for her fourth Olympic gold medal. 33-year-old Xian Dongmei, the 52 kg champion at the Judo World Championships held in March, is in good condition to defend her title despite being a mother.
