Argentina women's soccer team aims at quarterfinals at Olympics
Adjust font size:

Argentine women's soccer team aims to reach the quarterfinals in its Olympic debut, head coach Carlos Borrello told a press conference in Tianjin on Monday.

"We don't know what will happen, our aim is to qualify for the next stage," Borrello said.

Argentina was humiliated 11-0 in FIFA World Cup 2007, and Borrello believed the history won't repeat at the upcoming Olympics.

"That match no longer holds any fear for us. We've worked hard to overcome that setback," he said. "We have added some new players to the squad since the World Cup."

"We don't have a long history of the sport. We don't have a very developed system but we have strength of character," he added.

Argentina, in Group E with China, Sweden and Canada at the Olympics, will kick off its opening match against Canada in Tianjin on August 6.
