Gaining a bronze for her country on Sunday, DPR Korea lifter O Jong Ae was not satisfied with herself at all. She even didn't want to show up in the press conference for the top three.
She said she felt sorry for her compatriots.
"I wanted to bring joy to the people of the DPRK, but I failed to do so," said the bronze medalist.
O, 24, finished the snatch with 95kg after she failed two attempts of 98kg, only ranked sixth place.
She succeeded in her risky third attempt of 131kg while Wandee Kameaim from Thailand, who snatched 98kg, failed her last attempt to jerk 129kg. O got the bronze due to lighter body weight.
She smashed the standard Olympic record of 130kg in clean and jerk but only to see it to be rewritten by Chinese lifter Chen Yanqing, the first strongwoman in the world to retain the Olympic weightlifting champion.
"The gold medalist is indeed stronger than me," she said.
O said she was under great pressure after her two teammates, including world champion Cha Kum Chol, failed in the men's event on Sunday.
Cha Kum Chol, gold medalist in the 2007 world championships, finished fifth in the 56kg category, in which China's Long Qingquan claimed the title, and another DPRK lifter Ri Kyong Sok dropped off after failing all three attempts in snatch.
O claimed the first weightlifting medal for her country at the Beijing Olympics.
"I want to get a gold next time," O said.
