Dibaba, who won the bronze medal in the event at Athens Games, created the race's world record in 14:11.15 on June 6 in Oslo, Norway.
Without her elder sister Ejegayehu Dibaba's running in the event, Tirunesh qualified for Friday's final in 15:09.89.
Ethiopian-born former world record holder Abeylegesse failed to get enough support from Ethiopian federation and became a Turkish citizen in 1999.
