Macao Olympic Committee Monday announced the list of 120 torch
bearers who will carry the Olympic flame on May 3, and the route of
the Macao-leg relay.
Among the 120 bearers, 36 were selected by the central
government and the worldwide sponsors of the Olympic Games, while the SAR government invited
74 local athletes and civil servants, and recruited 10 candidates
from the open torch bearer selection program.
In addition to the list, the committee also unveiled the route
of the relay.
The Macao Fisherman's Wharf is both the start and finish points
of the relay in Macao, which is expected to take eight hours to
complete. The route will cover the city's iconic places, including
Ruins of St. Paul's and Senado Square, and part of the relay will
be carried out on a Dragon Boat on the island city's Sai Van
Lake.
The Beijing Olympic torch relay will travel to 21 relay cities
across 5 continents around the globe before its journey continues
in the Chinese mainland.
As it was planned, the Olympic flame will complete its relay in
Macao on May 3, and start its travel to the Chinese mainland with
its first stop in Sanya of Hainan Province.
