The Chinese State Post Bureau (SPB) has issued a notice guaranteeing mail and express delivery safety during the Beijing Olympics, a statement on its website said on Tuesday.
China Postal Group and United Parcel Service (UPS)'s Guangzhou branch in southern China, a sponsor of the Games, are entitled to carry out mail and express delivery services during the Olympic period, according to a previous agreement with the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee, the SPB said.
Other companies can not carry out Olympic-related mailing and delivery activities, according to the notice.
"All the branches under China Postal Group and the UPS should abide by the country's relevant laws and regulations and obey the guidance of the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee to guarantee the safety of mail and parcels entering into Olympic venues," said the notice.
The SPB also called on these post and express companies to keep alert for suspicious mail and parcels and ordered to refuse their delivery if these companies could not ensure whether they were safe.
