Hundreds of overseas Chinese students in Egypt signed their names at a signature collecting ceremony Friday in Cairo to show their support for the upcoming Beijing Olympic Games.

At one of the playgrounds in Egypt's Ain Shams University where the campaign was held, about 500 Chinese students signed their names and chanted, "Good luck, Beijing!" "Good luck, China!"

Li Xin, chairman of the Chinese Students Union at Egypt's Al-Azhar University and one of the organizers of the campaign, told Xinhua that overseas Chinese students in Egypt were in firm support of the Beijing Olympics.

"By holding such a campaign, we want more people in Egypt and the world as well to understand the efforts we Chinese have made to host the Olympics successfully," said Li.

Commenting on the recent interruptions of the Olympic torch relay by pro-Tibet independence activists, Li said, "We overseas Chinese students were infuriated by these kinds of activities."

"Today, we gather here to express our support to the Beijing Olympics and the unification of our homeland," said Li, adding that Tibet has been part of China since ancient times.

The organizers also staged a picture exhibition on the Beijing Olympics and the great social and economic progress in Tibet in recent decades.
