African 100 meters record holder Olusoji Fasuba on Thursday in Abuja said his focus is to win an Olympic medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics Games in August.
Fasuba was reacting to the defeat he encountered at the Athletics Federation of Nigeria super Grand prix held on Monday at the main bowl of the Abuja National stadium, where Adetoyi Durotoye provided the shock of the one day tournament when he defeated the Africa's fastest man and amongst other strong opposition with a 10.14 personal setting run.
He told Xinhua on a phone interview that he was unperturbed by the defeat, adding that he had forgotten about the loss.
He said instead of brooding over the loss, he was concentrating on how to win an Olympic medal for Nigeria in Beijing.
"Nigeria stands a chance of winning medals at the Olympics, so I am looking towards to that for my country, although things are not going the way it should.
"The grand prix was like training to me, which anybody could win because winning is not just for one person.
"It doesn't really matter; you can lose today and win tomorrow."
Fasuba, who made double history with his 60 meters title in Valencia last March at the IAAF world indoor championships, said he was preparing hard for the Olympics.
"I believe that other Nigerian athletes are preparing hard too for the Olympics because everybody needs to be in top form," he said.
"I have performed wonderfully well twice this year, one at the IAAF world indoor championships and the other was at the last African Athletics Championship last month in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, so I think for now the Olympics the ultimate for me."
