Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA) has laid a solid foundation to prepare for the 2008 Olympic Games and promised to offer safe, comfortable and warm environment and world-class service for passengers.
"We promise that the BCIA will be 100 percent safe even with a large number of passengers in and out during the Beijing Olympics," said Dong Zhiyi, vice president of the Capital Airports Holding Company on Tuesday at a press conference inside the largest airport in Asia.
The largest airport terminal in the world, T3, has been put in use earlier this year. The BCIA has been ranked as one of the leading airports in Asia, with three terminals, three runways and two air traffic control towers operating simultaneously and an annual design passenger capacity of 78 million person/time.
In addition, the BCIA has realized the commitment of "High Level Olympic Games with distinguishing features" by providing more convenient service to Olymplic Family Members on the basis of international common practices.
"We provides dedicated channels to Olympic Family Members for check-in, security inspection, quarantine and immigration and customs," said Dong.
"The operation on Sunday and Monday, when the first two charter flights from Cuba and Romania arrived, has shown the world that our airport has the capability of giving service of high quality," he added.
The BCIA has dedicated T3-D of 99,000 square meters and four Airbus A380 aircraft stands as the place for charter flights for Olympic and Paralympic delegations, which makes the Olympic Family Members can leave the airport directly from apron after finishing quarantine, immigration, customs and accreditation procedure.
Also, a 10,000 square meters National Guest Terminal has been utilized to serve flights from heads of state,as well as a 1,500 square meters Business Jets Terminal to serve Olympic Family Members who take private planes.
For Olympic Family Members taking scheduled flights in T2 and T3-E, the BCIA optimized relevant flows for them, making the procedure from getting off to check-out in time of as short as possible.
"I'm sure that the service in Beijing capital international airport can make everybody here satisfied and felt as warm as at home," Dong said.
