DPRK delegation raises national flag in Olympic Village

The DPR Korea delegation held the national flag-raising ceremony in the Olympic Village on Monday, four days before the opening of the Beijing Olympics.

Chen Jian, village head on duty, presented a speech at the welcoming ceremony. About 40 members of the DPR Korea delegation attended the ceremony.

Chen exchanged souvenirs with the chief of DPR Korea delegation after the flag-raising ceremony.

DPR Korea sent a 63-athlete delegation, including 21 male players and 42 women, to the Games. They will participate in football, diving, judo, shooting, table-tennis, weightlifting, wrestling, etc.

DPR Korea first participated in the Summer Games in Munich in 1972. It has always won at least two medals at every Summer Games since Munich with wrestling and boxing providing the most success.
