The name list of 80 torchbearers passing the Olympic Flame across Pyongyang on April 28 has been set, said Chinese ambassador Tuesday.
Among the 80 bearers, 56 are Koreans who represent a wide social spectrum of athletes, coaches, officials, workers and students, said Liu Xiaoming, the Chinese ambassador to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), in a press conference.
Liu, one of the 80 torchbearers, said that his words couldn't express his excitement and happiness to be one of the torchbearers. "It would be the most important experience in my whole life," he said.
Kim Dong Chol, head of the International Department of the Radio-Television Broadcasting Committee of the DPRK, told Xinhua that every Pyongyang citizen knows about the torch relay and looks forward to the event, for which is the fist time in the history that the Olympic Flame comes to the DPRK.
The whole relay will last for 130 days and travel over 137,000 kilometers with 19,400 torchbearers in China and 2,480 abroad, totaling 21,880. This makes it a unique torch relay with the longest in time duration, the longest in distance, the widest in geographic scope and the largest member of torchbearers in Olympic history.
