The Nigeria-China Friendship Association (NICAF) renewed its condemnation here Saturday of the attempt to undermine the Beijing Olympics and called for a worldwide hand-in-hand effort to make the event a successful one, the News Agency of Nigeria reported.
In a statement signed by V.N. Chibundu, chairman of NICAF, the organization termed any attempt to sabotage the Games, including the recent disruption of the Olympic torch relay, as "misplaced."
It also urged the International Olympic Committee, the news media, all stakeholders and the whole world to cooperate with China "to have a peaceful Olympic event."
The 2008 Beijing Olympic Games begin on Aug. 8.
