The president of Federation Internationale de Football Association, Sepp Blatter says the organization is firmly against a boycott of the Olympics and maintains that the Games will be a success.
Speaking in Beijing on Sunday, Blatter said the athletes would be there for sport rather than politics. He said various delegations under FIFA would attend the Olympic football competition in Beijing as scheduled.
Blatter also expressed disappointment at the disruptions to the Olympic torch relay. He said the Olympic torch represents an ideal of the Olympic spirit. And if such a torch cannot travel around the world, then something is wrong with the world and not with the torch.
