The Deputy Director of the Olympic Village, Deng Yaping, says every detail in the buildings follows IOC guidelines. But there will also be some unique Chinese touches.
Deng Yaping, deputy director of Beijing Olympic Village, said, "We hope the athletes will have a deep impression of China. This will be the first time for many athletes to visit this country. They will take this opportunity to get to know China, especially Chinese culture, which they are very interested in. We'll arrange some cultural activities or other activities to show them China's traditional culture."
In early April the IOC Coordination Commission reviewed the conditions at the Olympic Village.Timothy Fok, president of Hong Kong Olympic Committee, said, "I am impressed with Beijing contributions in sports. These venues are very modern. I think they are the best in history."
The Olympic Village will open on July 27th. That's two weeks ahead of the official start of the Beijing Olympic Games. And the Olympic Village will close on September 20th after the conclusion of the Paralympic Games in Beijing.
