Twenty Chinese volunteers who will work in the Latin American delegations at the 2008 Olympic Games arrived in Havana to improve their Spanish, Cuba's local media reported on Thursday.

The Chinese volunteers were welcomed on Wednesday at Cojimar's Pedagogic Conventions Center east of Havana and the ceremony was presided by Cuban Sports Institute president Alberto Juantorena.

"Your presence is a joy and honor," Juantorena said.

The welcoming ceremony was attended by Havana University's rector Ruben Zardoya and outstanding Cuban athletes including Ana Fidelia Quirot, Felix Savon, Regla Torres, Javier Sotomayor and Maria Caridad Colon, among many others.
