After the 1967 war, Israel proceeded to occupy the remainder of the Palestinian lands, reducing the Palestinian share of the land to only 22 percent. And it expanded illegal settlements in the occupied territories.
In their occupied areas, Israel adopted apartheid policies, discriminated against the Palestinians, and humiliated and killed them in large numbers.
On Nov. 29, 2012, the UN General Assembly voted to recognize the Palestine Authority as an observer state, with 138 votes for, 9 against and 42 abstentions. The United States, Canada, the Czech Republic, Panama, Israel, the Marshall Islands, Nauru, Micronesia, and Palau were the only countries which voted against the resolution.
Israel is becoming more and more isolated in the world. Yet there is no sign of it changing course. It hit Gaza three times, and the third time lasted a month and a half. It destroyed apartment buildings, bombed hospitals and schools and the only power plant in the strip. In all it killed 2,100 Gazans, most of them were civilians.
What is more disturbing, according to Uri Avnery, a former member of the Knesset and well known commentator, 99 percent of Israelis believe the killing and destruction of Gaza were necessary.
There is a Chinese saying that applies to this situation: "He who perpetrates unjust acts is doomed to destruction."
