A new game plan and error-free play gave Brazil their first win, 6-3 over Canada, in the Men's Goalball tournament at the Beijing Institute of Technology Gymnasium.
After Brazil's three narrow losses and one thrashing by China, Romario Marques and Alexsander Celente took on the roles of main throwers, relegating Luiz Silva Filho to a supporting role. The result was a more disciplined performance and a 4-1 halftime lead.
Sliva Filho stepped up his workload in the second half and showed more discipline than earlier in the tournament. He capped off a much improved match with a late goal. Mario Caron scored three for Canada to take his tournament total to 23, while Romario Marques scored three for Brazil.
Despite the unexpected loss, Canada is still qualified for the quarterfinal scheduled tomorrow.
