Fuzhou gov't renovates Lin Zexu Square for subway construction

Photo taken on Nov. 21, 2009 shows the Lin Zexu Square under project of overall renovation, in the downtown of Fuzhou City, southeast China's Fujian Province. The renovation project starts recently to meet the need of the city's Subway No.1 construction, and is set to remove the landmark bronze statue of Lin Zexu, which stands at 7.75 meters and weighs 7.3 tons. Lin Zexu (1785--1850), a historical hero of China who fought against opium smuggling and foreign invasion during the Qing Dynasty over 150 years ago, is a native of Fuzhou. (Xinhua/Zheng Shuai)
