A traditional Jack-o'-lantern is made during a small gathering in Los Angles, the United States, Oct. 23, 2010. Pumpkin lantern, or Jack-o'-lantern associated chiefly with the holiday Halloween, is typically a carved pumpkin. It is named after phenomenon of strange light flickering over peat dogs. To make a jack-o'-lantern, the top of a pumpkin is cut off and the inside flesh is scooped out, and then an image, usually a monstrous face, is carved on the outside surface. At night, a light is placed inside to illuminate the effect. [Xinhua]
