The Chinese-aided Friendship Port in Mauritania, built during the late 1970s to mid 1980s, is one of China's largest aid projects in Africa. By 2014, China helped build 5 berths in its continuous engineering support for the country. The port has brought huge economic benefits to the country and is a sign of its economic independence.
