Atletico Madrid President Enrique Cerezo repeated on Thursday that his club maintains confidence in coach Javier Aguirre.
The coach was under fire after Tuesday's 3-1 first leg defeat to Barcelona in the King's Cup when the Mexican decided not to field Argentinian striker Sergio Aguero.
"It is unfair to ask for Javier Aguirre to be sacked when we are one of the teams that is playing in a lot of competitions. We are in three most important competitions that you can play in Europe. We are in the Champions League, the Primera Liga, just three points off second place and we still have to play our second match in the Kings Cup," said Cerezo.
"We have got a magnificent team, some sensational players and a good coach. We have had just a lapse in our last games."
