Chelsea have dismissed speculation that John Terry could leave the Premier League club for Manchester City.
Chelsea confirmed Sunday on its website (www.chelseafc.com) that City made an offer for the skipper during the winter transfer window but was refused "immediately".
"We made it very clear that John was not for sale. We did not entertain any further conversation on the subject and nor will we in the future." said chief executive Peter Kenyon following Sunday's widespread reports suggesting Terry's move to City in the summer.
"John is our captain and the captain of England. He is part of the heart and soul of Chelsea."
Terry said that he was informed of the City approach and stressed his commitment to Stamford Bridge.
"Chelsea told me what had happened with the enquiry as a courtesy. I was very happy with their reaction as mine would have been the same," he said.
"I have always said that I want to end my career at the club which I love and we all see no reason why that cannot happen.
"Given recent events I am more determined than ever to make Chelsea successful again."
Reports claimed that Terry was considering his future at Chelsea as he became "disillusioned" with life at Stamford Bridge after two seasons of turmoil following Jose Mourinho's sacking.
