Atletico Madrid's Argentinean international striker Kun Aguero opened the door for his possible departure from the club on Thursday.
Aguero is one of the heroes of the Vicente Calderon stadium and has always said he has no intention of looking to leave, despite Atletico's poor season, which looks as if it will stop them qualifying for next season's Champions League campaign.
However, speaking in sports paper Diario AS on Thursday, he hinted that he would be prepared to move on it if helped his club.
"My club is who has to decide whether or not I stay here," said Aguero, who added that he didn't expect to be sold against his wishes.
"I have always said that the club has behaved well towards me and the institution knows that I want to stay here. Nevertheless, you never know what could happen," he said.
Failing to reach the Champions League would be a big economic blow to Atletico and the club would have to play in the less lucrative Europa Cup next season. Aguero says that should not make a difference to his future.
"It doesn't matter if we have to play in the Europa Cup or not. What is important is whether or not the club needs to sell me or not for its economic good," he said.
Aguero has scored 13 Primera Liga goals this season and his partnership with Diego Forlan in attack is perhaps Atletico's most effective weapon.
