Wushu needs to be adapted to suit the Olympics, said an official of China's State General Administration of Sports here as the preliminaries of the 11th National Games Wushu competition ended in northeast China's Changchun City on Sunday.
Gao Xiaojun, director of the Administration's Wushu governing centre, told Xinhua that they plan to popularize Wushu home and abroad, making it more exciting and have rules to follow.
"More than 122 countries and regions established wushu associations by now and China is making efforts to enlarge the Wushu family globally. As the powerhouse of Wushu, China is striving for the dream-coming-true of Wushu joining in the Olympics," said Gao.
