Boston forward Kevin Garnett underwent surgery on his right knee on Tuesday and it was a success, said Boston team president Danny Ainge.
Garnett averaged 15.8 points and 8.5 rebounds in 57 regular season games but was unable to play in their first round win over Chicago and seven-game loss to the Orlando Magic in the quarter-finals.
Garnett played a key role in last year's playoffs, leading the Celtics to a National Basketball Association championship.
