China's Chen Jin pulled off a major upset at the Indonesia Open on Frdiay when he outclassed compatriot and Olympic champion Lin Dan 21-18, 17-21, 21-4 in the quarterfinals.

Ranked third in the world, Lin had been expected to become the first Chinese male player in 20 years after Xiong Guobao to win the men's singles title in Indonesia.

Chen Jin would take on either Malaysian Lee Chong Wei, world No. 1, or Park Sung Hwan of South Korea.

Meanwhile, Lu Lan ousted Wang Yihan 21-10, 11-21 and 22-20 in an all-Chinese quarterfinals of the women's singles, and Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng advanced to the men's doubles semifinals with a 21-14, 21-14 demolition of American pair Howard Bach/Tony Gunawan.
