Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini decided not to risk Brazilian midfielder Kaka for his side's away game to Osasuna on Sunday.
Kaka was expected to be included in the Real Madrid squad after training with the rest of his team mates on Friday and Saturday.
However, after having been without the player for the past month, Pellegrini opted to give him another week to recover match fitness.
"Kaka is fine, we decided that on Wednesday, but he needs time to get up to rhythm," explained Pellegrini.
Real Madrid is also without injured midfielder Guti and central defender Pepe for Sunday's match, while Mohamadou Diarra is playing in the African Nations Cup.
