Boca defeat River 2-0 at Argentine soccer

Argentine soccer club Boca Juniors defeated on Thursday River Plate 2-0 at the Argentine local league in a match of the 10th round at Clausura tournament.

The tournament had been suspended on Sunday due to the rain.

The match was played in La Bombonera stadium of Buenos Aires. Among the audience, there was the coach of national team Diego Maradona and tennis player Juan Martin del Potro, both fans of Boca.

Chilean Gary Medel scored two goals for Boca, one in the 13th minute and the other in the 48th minute. Later in the 75th minute, he was expelled from the match for having accumulated two yellow cards.

With this triumph, Boca expanded its advantage on the match record against its arch-rivals keeping 68 triumphs, 57 ties and 61 losses.

After winning this match, Boca have accumulated 11 points, one less than River.
