Hamburg sacks head coach Bruno Labbadia

Germany's Bundesliga team Hamburger SV head coach Bruno Labbadia was sacked Monday after the club's 1-5 loss to Hoffenheim on Sunday.
Labbadia, 44, left Bayer Leverkusen last summer and started with good performances in Hamburg but as time progressed, Hamburg squad slowly staged poor performances especially after winter break.
The team slipped to the 7th position in Bundesliga table without having any chance to qualify for European League in next season.
Hamburg chairman Bern Hoffmann explained in their official homepage: "The decision to furlough head coach Bruno Labbadia and co-trainer Eddy Soezer was taken today after a deep analysis of the sporting future. Until the end of the season technique trainer Ricardo Moniz will function as head coach of Hamburger SV."
"The last performances of Hamburg against Mainz, Fulham and Hoffenheim had given us the feeling that something has to be changed, so that the very important match on Thursday in London at second leg of European League semifinal against Fulham should be won," Bernd Hoffmann said.
"We are convinced that Ricardo Moniz will be able to squeeze out from the team the last power percentage which has been missed in the last time," he said.
Labbadia will receive a one-million-euro compensation due to ending the contract before the summer of 2012.
