Focus on women's soccer crucial: FIFA

Football associations spend lots of resources on men's football at the expense of women's football, FIFA Development Officer in Southern Africa Ashford Mamelodi has said.
Mamelodi voiced this concern in Maseru on Tuesday during a FIFA community meeting on women's football standards in the country.
Namibian Football Association head of Women's Football Jacqueline Gertse said her country used every avenue to ensure the sustenance of women football in her country.
"We have introduced women's football and are active in all structures such as the Under 15 and 17 as well as the domestic league to ensure that the sport played throughout the country," she said.
She noted that there were challenges, however, but were determined to remain the mainstay of women's football in the region.
Lesotho Women's Football president Maleshoane Mokhathi said although there was a lot of potential, the Lesotho Football Association dragged its feet in helping them achieve some of their goals.
She pointed out that they need transport, meals and other necessities to implement some of their programs such as introducing a women's football national league in the country.
