Real Madrid on Monday officially presented Jose Mourinho as its new coach for next season.

The 47-year-old Portuguese trainer has signed a contract for four seasons and will earn around 10 million euros (12 million dollars) a season.

He joins Real Madrid after leading Inter Milan to the treble of the Italian League (Serie A), the Italian Cup and the Champions League.

His side won the Champions League by beating Bayern Munich 2-0 in Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on May 22.

Mourinho also won the Champions League and the UEFA Cup with Porto, before moving to England, where he coached Chelsea. During his three years at Stamford Bridge, he won the Premier League on two occasions, (2005,2006) the FA Cup and two League Cups.

He joins a Real Madrid side that has not won any titles in two seasons despite the 250 million euros invested by club president Florentino Perez last summer.

Mourinho is known for the defensive style of his teams, in which all of the players work hard for each other. However, despite the emphasis on teamwork, Mourinho's sides tend to be lethal on the counter attack and score a lot of goals.
