France to help China to promote tennis

France is going to help China to promote the development of tennis as the Chinese Tennis Association and the French Tennis Federation (FFT) signed an agreement at Roland Garros on Saturday.

The signing took place in the presence of Kong Quan, Ambassador of China to France, Jean Gachuassin, president of the FFT and Patrice Hagelauer, national technical director of the FFT.

Kong said that Chinese tennis has made rapid progress in recent years. There are top class international tournaments such as China Open and Shanghai Masters held in China. The tennis population in China also grows fast.

According to Jean-Pierre Dartevelle, vice president of the FFT, they will provide training for the Chinese coaches and players. Besides, they are going to set up training base for the Chinese elite players who come to Europe for practice and competition.

Dartevelle said he hoped that French tennis and Chinese tennis could collaborate in more fields in the future.

Li Youlin, vice president of the Chinese Tennis Association, believed that the huge development of Chinese women's tennis need to thank the reinforcement of international cooperation.
