Russian Vera Zvonareva cruised into the women's singles quarterfinals at the Wimbledon Championships after her opponent Jelena Jankovic from Serbia retired midway on Monday.

Zvonareva led the match 6-1, 3-0 before the fourth seed Jankovic retired due to a back injury.

The 21st seed Zvonareva will wait for the winner between Belgian Justine Henin and Kim Clijsters.
