South Africa, host for the FIFA 2010 World Cup, has its own version of the psychic German octopus Paul which has been successfully predicting winners in all of Germany's games in the tournament.

He is Jabulani, an octopus at the Two Oceans aquarium in Cape Town.

On Friday morning staff at the aquarium put Jabulani to the test.

As with the German specimen, two jars were lowered into his tank. One contained the Spanish flag and the other the Dutch flag.

According to Talk Radio 702 in Johannesburg, Jabulani picked the Spaniards as the winners of Sunday night's World Cup final in Johannesburg.

Paul, the German counterpart, has so far predicted eight consecutive correct results during the tournament. He also predicts Spain will win.

Jabulani, the same name as the controversial FIFA 2010 World Cup ball, means happiness in South Africa's Zulu language.
