The city of London is going to start a project next week to encourage people ride bicycle as the main transportation so as to make the greenest Olympics ever, said Peter Bishop, Deputy Chief Executive of London Development Agency in Shanghai Monday at the Shanghai Expo.

Bishop said at the press conference marking the beginning of "London Week", that the project includes providing citizens more bicycles for rent and creating a new network of fast cycle routes across London.

He added, one of the key programs of the Mayor of London is to develop new forms of transport, particularly electric vehicles and hydrogen technologies.

"There are very ambitious plans in the London transport authority called Transport for London to convert its transportation into electric and hybrid vehicles," he said.

Bishop said all of these are driven by London mayor's desire to reduce the carbon foot print by 60 percent by 2025.

As one of the highlights of the "London Week" , which will take place from July 26 to 30, London will also hold a grand reception to celebrate the two-year countdown to the 2012 Games at the UK Pavilion Tuesday night.
