Chinese budding weightlifter Deng Wei claimed gold in the women's 58kg competition after setting a new junior world record at the Youth Olympic Games on Tuesday.
The 17-year-old Deng failed to make it six-for-six in lifts, but still notched the gold medal in a convincing way.
Deng did not give her opponents a chance as she dominated the snatch by lifting 110kg - 15kg more than her nearest rival - on her third attempt. She followed with 132kg in the clean and jerk for a 242kg total, one kilogram better than the previous International Weightlifting Federation's junior world record.
Deng had 137kg on the barbell on her last lift but she fell down while making the attempt.
"I am satisfied and I've done my best," said Deng.
Zulfiya Chinshanlo of Kazakhstan finished as runner-up with 225kg in total while Nigerian Racheal Ekoshoria took the bronze in 190kg.
Egypt's Amal Mohamed caused a scare when she fell to the floor while attempting a lift of 97kg in the clean and jerk. A referee helped her up and medical staff had a quick check on her.
The 16-year-old was then taken to the medical room and declared fit but did not complete the competition.
Her coach, Maher Hassan, revealed that an elbow injury affected Mohamed's performance.
"She could have done better, but for the injury (she failed)," he said.
