Turkey wins in last second to go to finals

A basket in the last second of the match gave Turkey a 83-82 victory over Serbia here on Saturday, sending the undefeated Turkey against the undefeated US for the 2010 World Basketball Championship finals.

Turkey started out weak and trailed Serbia for most of the game, remaining behind but in the single digits. It wasn't until the the last 4 minutes of the game Turkey was able to take the lead, when it brought the score to 76-75.

Turkey remained ahead for the rest of the fourth quarter, until a basket by Serbia's Novica Velickovic in the last 4 seconds put the Balkan team ahead 81-82.

However Turkey's Kerem Tunceri was able to sink the ball in with less than 1 second remaining to win the game for the host country.

Serbia's Marko Keselj was the top-scorer of the game, with 18 points including 4 three-pointers. Hidayet Turkoglu topped Turkey with 16 points.

Turkey will now take on the US on Sunday in the first world championship finals in the team's history.
