Iran enters Asian Basketball Challenges semifinals

Iran All-Stars came from behind to beat Japan Phoenix 73-68 to seize the last semifinal spot at the 2010 Asian Men's Basketball Challenges here on Thursday.

Leading by two points in the first quarter but trailing by 10 after three quarters, Iran All-Stars had a 9-0 run and made five of six free throws in the final seconds to seize the victory.

The other three teams qualified to the semifinals are South Korean Samsung, the Philippines All-Stars and Chinese Taipei Puyuan.

Six teams from China, Japan, South Korea, Iran and the Philippines took part in the Challenges which will close on September 19.

Host team Zhejiang Guangsha, who finished third in the 2009-2010 China Basketball Association league, lost two group matches and would only fight for the fifth place against the Japan Phoenix.
