Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho on Sunday lamented his side's missed chances after Real could only draw 0-0 away to recently promoted Levante.

Real Madrid was on top for most of the game, but with his strikers misfiring, Mourinho could only watch as two precious points went begging.

"We created a lot of chances tonight and some of them being really good, so I am obviously concerned because we need to score," he told the club's website.

The Portuguese coach looked on the positive side as his team kept its fourth clean shet in five league matches and one Champions League tie.

"We are a solid team in defense. We have only allowed one goal in six official games; our tactics aren't the problem, but we aren't scoring," said Mourinho, who defended his players.

"It's not because of our players because we all know just how capable they are of scoring, but we aren't right now. That is my only worry," he said.

"If we change the team around we might not create as many chances, but perhaps we create two and score two goals. We have the balance and we have the ability to create chances, but we you have talented players who can't finish you have trouble. It isn't normal that our players need to many chances to score; or not to like happened tonight," added Mourinho.

The failure to win saw Madrid overtaken at the top of the table by Valencia and FC Barcelona, but Mourinho tried to end on an upbeat note.

"My team played with a positive attitude and fought until the very last second. I am not a coach that will get upset with a player for missing a goal. I prefer to provide confidence and calmness," he said.
