Underdog Wang Jiali from China used a surprise late charge to win the women's title at the Beijing Marathon 2010 in Beijing on Sunday.
Amid heavy rain and cold gust, Wang caught up with the leading group only at around 35km mark.
"I never thought of winning the title, all I did is running to my own rhythm," said Wang after the match.
"I seldom compete under such terrible weather and the rain did affect my form a little bit, but overall my race is ok. Athletes must learn to adjust to any conditions," she added.
