Russia extended their unbeaten run by beating South Korea 3-1 on Tuesday afternoon in pool D at the FIVB Women's World Championship in Osaka Municipal City Gymnasium.
The defending champions almost dominated the first two sets, taking the lead with 25-18 and 25-17. But South Koreans fortified their defense and won the third set 25-19.
The fourth set proved to be tougher for both sides. The Russians revived gradually and notched the win in 25-22.
The coach of Russia Kuzyutkin Vladimir said after the match that though his team won the game, he did not believe it was a beautifully played one. He said Russia won by principles and rules and he would reconfirm the role of defense in volleyball.
Russia had defeated the Dominican Republic, Turkey and Canada last week.
