At the 53rd southern derby, record champion Bayern Munich humiliated Nuremberg 3-0 at a one-sided affair while Freiburg shocked Hoffenheim with a last second winner on Sunday Bundesliga.
Bayern needed only ten minutes to set the course through striker Mario Gomez who poked the ball home from close distance after a diagonal pass by midfielder Danijel Pranjic from the left wing. With the lead behind the "Bavarians" retracted until the final whistle while Nuremberg remained unable to overcome the Bayern's defence.
Twelve minutes into second half, goalkeeper Raphael Schaefer fouled striker Mario Gomez inside penalty area so that referee Thorsteh Kinhoefer was forced to point to the spot.
Bayern defender Phillip Lahm exploited the chance to double the lead into bottom right. Nuremberg was unable to put up some resistance and striker Gomez headed the 3-0 lead from inside goal area after a corner by Frenchmen Franck Ribery.
Three minutes before final whistle striker Mario Gomez had the chance to seal his hat-trick but missed his attempt from the spot.
The Bavarians are still behind their standards albeit they climbed from 9th to 6th position while Nuremberg slipped from 6th to 10th position.
At the other match on Sunday, Hoffenheim lost 0-1 to Freiburg due to a last second goal by striker Papiss Demba Cisse who marked his 10th goal of the season. Freiburg jumped from 8th to 4th position while Hoffenheim slipped from 5th to 8th position.
