Real Madrid midfielder Sergio Canales will be out of action for at least a month with an ankle injury.
The official club website has confirmed that 19-year-old suffered a twisted left ankle in Thursday's training session and tests have confirmed that he will be sidelined for the rest of the month.
If that is the case, it probably means that Canales will not play for Real Madrid again this season. The midfielder cost around seven million dollars from Racing Santander last summer, but has only made three first team appearances.
The fact that he has not played five times in domestic competition means that he can play for another Primera Liga club this campaign and Madrid will look to loan him to another side to allow him to gain first team experience.
Canales' former club Racing Santander is likely to be his destination. Racing coach Miguel Angel Portugal has already said that he would like Canales and the fact that Madrid would have to pay Racing compensation should they loan him elsewhere means the youngster will almost certainly spend the second half of the season there.
