Tennis star Pete Sampras has had trophies and other memorabilias stolen from a West Los Angeles storage facility.

Thieves took most of the trophies from his 64 tour title wins, two Davis Cups, an Olympic medal and six trophies for finishing world No. 1 from 1993 to 1998.13 of his 14 grand slam trophies were taken in the robbery.

The theft happened three weeks ago and Sampras says he has gone public now in the hope that somebody can offer a lead.

He says the theft is like losing his tennis history.

Sampras retired in 2003.
