Spanish sports paper Diario AS reports this Friday that Real Madrid will play a pre-season friendly in China in the summer of 2011.
The paper reports that the game will be played in Beijing as part of an Asian tour that the club is organizing. Real Madrid is now attempting to secure a second game, which will either be played in China, or possibly in Japan.
The Asian trip will make up for the frustrated attempts to take Real Madrid to the Far East this summer, when a lack of time because of the World Cup finals made it impossible to find suitable dates.
Real Madrid has visited Asia three times in pre-season. In 2003 they played in Beijing, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Bangkok, while subsequent tours have seen them visit Tokyo and also combine an Asian tour with a visit to the United States.
This summer coach Jose Mourinho insisted on his side carrying out pre-season training in Los Angeles and his club played friendly matches against American sides before moving back to Europe.
In all probablity 2011 will see them return to Los Angeles, but instead of flying easy back to Europe, this time they will cross the Pacific Ocean to Asia.
