Asian Games flames travels on Maritime Silk Road

The Asian Games flame started travelling on the "Maritime Silk Road" in Yangjiang, Guangdong Province Tuesday and will arrive at Jiangmen to resume its trip.

The Torch Relay was kicked off in front of Nanhai I Museum which showcases an excavated ship wrecked in the Song Dynasty of China.

At 9am, the first torchbearer, world speed roller skating champion Fan Chuqian took over "The Tide" from Lin Shaochun, Secretary of Yangjiang Municipal Committee of the CPC. After the relay by 12 torchbearers on Hailing Island, Liu Jinnan from Yangjiang Post Office ignited the 13th torch and began the relay in the downtown of the city. The 55th torchbearer was a native of Yangjiang, Xie Zhaoxing who won three gold medals and one silver medal at Asian Paralympic Athletics Championships this May and will attend the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Para Games in December.

The next stop of the Torch Relay will be Jiangmen of Guangdong Province.
