Johannesburg - Reneilwe Letsholonyane has admitted that Bafana Bafana are under immense pressure to get their World Cup campaign off to a winning start.

The host nation will open the showpiece against a quick, skilful Mexico side at Soccer City on Friday and the Kaizer Chiefs midfielder revealed a negative result is not an option for South Africa.

"Personally, I'd say there will always be pressure on us because we are not just playing for ourselves," he said.

"We are representing the entire country and as you have seen it the whole nation has been behind us. So we need to repay the nation for all the support they have been showing us with our performance so they can be happy.

"So there is pressure based on this but it motivates us as players to go out there and make our nation proud. We are ready to do the job on Friday."

Despite yet another a good showing against Denmark on Saturday, in which he was voted man of the match, Letsholonyane refuses to suggest he is guaranteed a place in Bafana's starting eleven.

"We are not the ones who decide who must play. It is the coach who decides," said Yeye.

"But I have watched a few of Mexico's games and personally, I think it will be hard for us to beat them and if I play I will want to make the country proud," he concluded.
